Gregor Piatigorsky

Gregor Piatigorsky was born in 1903 in Ekaterinoslav, Ukraine. Coming from very humble beginnings, by the age of eight he was already a professional cellist, playing in restaurants and theaters.

The Piatigorsky Foundation brings live classical music to audiences throughout the United States.

The Piatigorsky International Cello Festival is presented by the University of Southern California, Thornton School of Music and focuses on the art of the cello, its music, and its musicians.
