Dear Grisha,

I have done all the changes
we have discussed and gave the first movement
to the copyist. Let me tell you once again
how much I appreciate your friendship and your
generous help, which improved this movement 1000%.
When one rewrites a piece so often as I have
done this, one loses completely the perspective and
doesn’t see the forest from the trees. I admire
you how you have discovered all the sore spots
of the piece – and they were numerous indeed.
